Free Pattern: Easy Ribbed Fingerless Gloves

Welcome to my new blog!

For those who don't already know me (which is probably very few of you, but nonetheless), my name is Laura and I've been blogging over at the OCD mama for the last two years. I've recently focused my efforts on crocheting and have operated an Etsy shop selling finished items. Many of the items are made with patterns designed by professionals, but a lot of the time I scrap a pattern and do my own thing. I decided to create a space to share my own patterns and tutorials with the rest of the online crocheting community. So without further ado, here is the first one!

Fingerless gloves gained popularity last year, and are trending just as well this Fall as well. They are perfect for that extra bit of warmth your hands need without the inconvenience of a full fingered glove. So without further ado, here is the EASIEST pattern to whip up a pair in no time.

These can easily be made larger or smaller by chaining more or less stitches at the beginning, or by using a different sized hook.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Caron Simply Soft in Gray Heather)
Size I crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Finished Dimensions:
8.5 inches x 3.5 inches (Fits average woman's hands)

NOTE: Row 1 is worked into the back ridge loops of the beginning chain. This creates a neater edge to seam together at the end.

Pattern:
Chain 35
Row 1 - Half double crochet (HDC) in 3rd chain (ch) from hook (hk) and in each stitch (st) across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2- 17: HDC in back loop only (BLO) in each HDC. Ch 1, turn.

Fold work with the bottom of the foundation row and the last row together, and work the following:

Row 18: Slip st inserting hook in the BLO of first st of beginning row and last row. Sl st in each st until you are 2.5" from the end of the row. Now stop joining the sides together and work sl st up along the foundation chain side only for 1.5", forming the hole for your thumb. now sl st the sides together again until the end. Do not fasten off. Ch 1, turn work inside out, and work single crochet (sc) evenly around. Join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Repeat pattern for the second fingerless glove.
